River/bay salmon (fall Chinook)

Based upon CDFW projections, anglers will have met the Lower Trinity River adult fall-run Chinook salmon quota below the Denny Road Bridge at Hawkins Bar for the 2026 season as of 11:59 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 16, triggering the fishery's closure.

Snake Zone — Snake River. In the Snake River from the Oregon/Washington state border, upstream to the boundary 400 ft below Hells Canyon dam: Effective September 23, 2026, through October 31, 2026: Hatchery Chinook salmon only with a bag limit of three adult hatchery Chinook (no limit on jacks) from Sept 23 to Oct 31. All other permanent rules for the Snake River Zone, as stated in the current annual Oregon Sport Fishing Regulations, remain in effect. September 10, 2026 Inseason Action #30 in Ocean Salmon Fisheries, South of Cape Falcon (Oregon Recreational) NOAA Fisheries took inseason action in the recreational salmon fisheries south of Cape Falcon. Inseason Action #30 Effective Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 11:59 p.m., the ocean recreational fishery from Cape Falcon to Humbug Mountain is closed to the retention of coho salmon. The season remains open for Chinook salmon (24” minimum length) with a daily bag limit of two salmon. Northwest Zone — Necanicum River. In the Necanicum River from the mouth to Hwy 53 bridge at Necanicum Jct including Neawanna Cr tidewater below 12 th Ave Bridge Effective August 1 through November 30, 2026: The daily adult wild Chinook salmon bag limit is one fish; and No more than five adult wild Chinook salmon may be retained for the period. Effective December 1 through December 31, angling for, and retention of, all Chinook salmon is closed.

Southeast Zone — Crystal Creek, Fourmile Creek, Fourmile Canal, Harriman Creek, Klamath Lake, Odessa Creek, Recreation Creek, Short Creek, and Thomason Creek. Effective June 15, 2026 through October 31, 2026 : Catch-and-release for rainbow trout and, Flies and artificial lures only for all species. The spit fishery at the mouth of the Klamath River will be closed to angling at 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2. Based on CDFW projections of the recreational fall-run Chinook Salmon harvest, anglers will have met the “spit area” adult fall-run Chinook Salmon quota of 15 percent of the total Klamath River Basin recreational allocation of fish caught below the Highway 101 bridge.

The Klamath Management Zone (ocean waters between the California/Oregon border and 40º10′ N. latitude) is now closed for recreational ocean salmon fishing. The Fort Bragg Management Area (ocean waters between 40º10′ N. latitude and Point Arena) will open August 1 for recreational ocean salmon fishing, and continue through August 9. The remainder of the August dates previously scheduled for the Fort Bragg Management Area are now closed. The San Francisco and Monterey management areas will open for recreational salmon fishing from August 1 through August 31 or until the harvest guidelines for Chinook salmon are met, whichever is earlier. There have been no changes to the recreational fall ocean salmon season that begins in September.
